Product Details - Housed Stringer
The below diagram and chart shows engineered Unsupported Stringer Lengths for Housed Stringers. This is just one design that can be used, so unsupported length calculations should always be checked with your own design.
In this diagram, the brown shows the Ply-Lam housed stringer. The Thickness (W) and Depth (D) of the housed stringer are adjusted based on the required unsupported length. In this specific design, a 5/8" thick Plywood stringer has been added to the Ply-Lam stringer as support for treads and risers.
The chart below uses the above indices and shows the Alberta Building Code Permitted Unsupported Length. All measurements are given in Inches:
